Maintain Your Weight Goals This Holiday Season


When thinking about weight is a simple equation don’t you think? If you burn more calories than you consume then you lose weight, and if you consume more than you burn you will gain weight.

Anyone who has tried to manage their weight can agree this is much easier said than done. When the holidays roll around the corner it can be harder than ever to maintain or lose weight! Here are some great tips which will help you to enjoy the holiday treats without sacrificing your waistline.

Moderation

I cannot stress how important moderation is. You see all the amazing treats and we just want to binge on everything. Instead of eating with your eyes at the big holiday dinner try taking small samples of the desserts. You will still get to try them, without blowing over your calorie limit.

Exercise

Sometimes you must stick to the basics. You know you will be consuming more calories, try preparing for it by making more time for exercise. Get in a walk or run in the morning, or an afternoon workout on your lunch break at work and take the stairs instead of the elevator. All the little things will add up and help you to burn more calories throughout the day.

Doggie bags

Hosting? Make your guests love you by sending them home with leftover treats. This way you will not be tempted to binge on them later.

Don’t starve

Sometimes in preparation people will starve themselves all day or weekend knowing they will have a huge meal or pig out. This may seem like a great idea at the time but come dinner time all the high sugar and carb meals will look so much more appealing to you.

Lay off the pop

Drink water throughout the day…. just do it. Yes, I know sometimes it might be hard to stay away from alcohol but as mentioned above moderation is always key!

Will power

Say no! I know it can be hard, but we are doing a 360 turn back to our very first point – moderation is key.
